Bhutanese Basket Weaving Workshop
Target audience : open event
Weaving workshop is open to people of all ages with a willingness to learn this unique technique.
Event Type: Som Maya and Bhadri will teach participants how to weave baskets, sharing the skills they learnt while growing up in Bhutan and Nepal
Traditionally, baskets were made of corn husks. In the refugee camp in Nepal, when difficult to source natural materials, Som recycled plastic bags and used them to weave her baskets. Participants will work beside Som and Bhadri learning to weave and create a basket to take home.
Bring your own plastic bags and scissors.
